What does a digital loyalty card cost in Belgium in 2026?

A digital loyalty card costs an independent business in Belgium between €0 and about €70 excluding VAT per month depending on the solution and plan, sometimes topped up by physical cards, hardware, SMS or an annual contract. This guide gives the public prices of eight solutions, collected on 10 October 2026, then a simple method to find out whether the programme pays for itself.

The prices below are those displayed by each vendor on the date indicated. They can change; the source is given for each row. Dollar prices depend on the exchange rate.

Three readings of this table:

  1. The entry point for a single business sits between €8 and €29 per month with most vendors. Free plans exist (Spari, Fydl) but cap the number of active customers or rewards.
  2. The mid-range (CRM, e-mails, several cards, integrations) sits between €49 and €70.
  3. Offers at several hundred euros (Piggy Scale and Pro) target multi-site brands, not a neighbourhood shop.

Hidden costs to check before signing

The monthly price is not the total cost. Ask every vendor these six questions.

VAT. Prices are quoted excluding VAT. In Belgium, add 21% if you cannot reclaim it.

Commitment. A price "per month" may be an annual price divided by twelve. Joyn's terms provide for an initial one-year term, tacitly renewed, with no termination for convenience and no refund of amounts paid (terms and conditions, art. 11, consulted on 10 October 2026). At Goodly, the monthly subscription has no commitment; the annual one binds for the chosen term (T&C, art. 8).

Physical cards and hardware. Joyn offers a Joyn Box at €50 and cards from €30; its merchant app runs on a tablet or smartphone. A Wallet solution has no card to print: the customer's phone carries the card and your phone or till applies the stamp.

Set-up fees and extra cards. Stamp Me charges €15 per programme beyond two published programmes. Ask what adding a second card or a second location costs.

SMS. SMS campaigns are almost always billed per message (Fydl: €0.05 per SMS after 30 free). Wallet notifications cost nothing to send.

Caps. Active customers, rewards, staff, locations: a free plan capped at 25 active customers becomes paid as soon as the programme works.

How to calculate the return on investment

The method fits in three lines. The figures that follow are fictitious and illustrate the calculation, not a Goodly performance.

  1. Total monthly cost = subscription + rewards actually redeemed × variable cost of a reward + management time.
  2. Contribution margin of an additional visit = what is left of the average basket once variable costs are removed.
  3. Break-even = total monthly cost ÷ contribution margin per additional visit.

Example: a café pays €29 excl. VAT in subscription, gives one coffee free every ten and hands out 60 per month at €1.20 variable cost, i.e. €72. Total cost: €101. With €2.50 contribution margin per additional visit, it needs 101 ÷ 2.50 = 41 additional visits per month to cover the programme. Beyond that, the programme earns.

The important word is "additional". A regular who would have come anyway does not count. Compare comparable periods, track redeemed rewards and customers who actually return: the guide how to calculate the cost of a loyalty reward details every line.

Paper card or digital card: the real gap

A paper card seems free. It costs printing, the time to stamp with a pen, lost cards and above all the absence of contact between two visits. A digital card costs a subscription, but it lets you remind the customer that their reward is waiting. The guide why switch to a digital loyalty card develops this point; for a bakery that sees its customers several times a week, the difference is measured quickly.

Frequently asked questions

What budget should I plan for a single business?

Between €0 and €29 excl. VAT per month for an entry plan, depending on the caps you accept. With Goodly, the Pro plan is €29 excl. VAT per month, unlimited customers, after a 14-day trial.

Is there a free digital loyalty card?

Yes, with limits: Spari Basis (25 active customers, 5 rewards) and Fydl (1 reward) as of 10 October 2026. Goodly no longer offers a free plan to new accounts, but a 14-day trial and a 30-day guarantee.

Are annual prices always better value?

They are cheaper per month, but they bind you. Calculate the cost over twelve months in both cases and check the cancellation conditions before choosing annual.

Do I need to buy a tablet?

It depends on the solution. With Goodly, your phone, an existing tablet or the staff till is enough; the customer gives their 4-digit code or shows their QR.

How do I limit the cost of rewards?

Choose a reward with high perceived value and low variable cost, set a threshold consistent with the real visit frequency, and track redeemed rewards every month.

How do I start without risk?

Create your card and test it for 14 days with real customers. If the programme does not suit you once in service, the 30-day guarantee applies under the terms.
